Cookie Policy
Last updated: June 2026
This policy explains how Legal Highlight, trading as Renovation Register (“we”, “us”), uses cookies and similar technologies (such as your browser’s local storage). It complements our Privacy Policy.
There is no federal US law requiring a cookie-consent banner, and we do not show one because we keep this to a minimum. We use only strictly necessary cookies and a small amount of first-party, anonymous local storage for analytics. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site trackers, and we do not sell or share your information.
1. What cookies and storage are
Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. “Local storage” is a similar browser mechanism. Some are essential for a site to work; others are optional.
2. What we use
Strictly necessary
- Security & bot protection (Cloudflare) — our hosting/security provider
may set short-lived cookies (e.g.
__cf_bm,cf_clearance) to distinguish humans from bots and protect the Service. Without these the site may not load safely. - Sign-in session (contractor portal only) — on
pro.renovationregister.com, a session cookie keeps you logged in after you follow your magic link. It is set only when you sign in and is essential to the portal. - Payments (Stripe) — when you proceed to checkout, Stripe may set cookies on its own checkout page for fraud prevention and to process your payment securely.
First-party analytics (local storage, not cookies)
To understand how our pages and sign-up flow perform, we store a random, anonymous identifier in your browser’s local storage and record basic events (e.g. page views, scroll depth, sign-up-step progress). This is first-party (only us), is not an advertising cookie, contains no name or contact details, and is never sold or shared. We do not use Google Analytics or any third-party ad/tracking pixel.
3. What we do NOT use
- No advertising or retargeting cookies.
- No cross-site tracking or data brokers.
- No social-media tracking pixels.
4. Your choices under state privacy law (CCPA/CPRA)
Some US state privacy laws (such as the California CCPA/CPRA) give residents the right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information, including through certain advertising cookies. We do not sell or share your personal information and we do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, so there is nothing to opt out of here. See our Privacy Policy for the full list of your rights.
5. Third parties
We rely on Cloudflare (hosting/security), Stripe (payments) and Resend (email delivery). Cloudflare and Stripe may set the strictly-necessary cookies described above when you interact with those features. Resend does not set cookies on this site. Each provider processes data under its own terms.
6. How to control cookies & storage
You can block or delete cookies and clear local storage at any time in your browser settings (e.g. Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge — see your browser’s “Privacy” or “Cookies and site data” section). Blocking strictly-necessary cookies may stop parts of the Service (such as signing in or paying) from working. To stop first-party analytics, clearing your browser storage for this site removes the anonymous identifier.
7. Changes & contact
We may update this policy from time to time; the current version is always published here. Questions: hello@renovationregister.com. See also our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
