What is the HEAR Rebate?

The High-Efficiency Electric Home Rebate (HEEHRA / HEAR) is administered by U.S. DOE / State energy offices and available to eligible properties in United States (federal, state-administered). It is designed to help homeowners reduce the upfront cost of energy-efficient and clean-energy improvements — supporting US climate goals while lowering household energy bills.

This scheme supports installations including Hvac, Insulation, Electrical.


Am I eligible?

  • Household income must be below 150% of your area median income (AMI) to qualify.
  • Low-income households (under 80% AMI) can receive up to 100% of project costs; moderate-income households (80–150% AMI) up to 50%.
  • Specific caps apply per measure — $8,000 for a heat pump, $1,750 for a heat-pump water heater, $4,000 for an electric panel upgrade, $2,500 for wiring, $1,600 for insulation/air sealing.
  • The total rebate per household is capped at $14,000.
  • Available only in states whose energy office has launched the program — rollout timing varies by state.

How it works
